Dr. Laxmi Shankar ‘Khushwaha’ is a distinguished author, educator and Hindi scholar who has dedicated his life to the promotion of Hindi language, literature and culture. Born on 30 November, 1963 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, he hails from Village and Post – Binour. Through his literary works, academic contributions and official language activities, he has earned recognition as a committed advocate of Hindi.

Dr. Khushwaha possesses an impressive academic background. He completed his M.A. in Sociology and Hindi, obtained an LL.B. degree and earned a Ph.D. His multidisciplinary education has enriched his literary vision and intellectual pursuits.

In addition to his literary achievements, Dr. Khushwaha has made significant contributions to higher education. He served as an Assistant Professor at B.N. P.G. College, Shahabad, Hardoi (Uttar Pradesh), where he played an important role in teaching, guiding students and fostering academic excellence. His dedication to education earned him the respect of colleagues and students alike.

As an accomplished author, Dr. Khushwaha has written numerous articles and essays on a variety of subjects. For nearly a decade, his writings related to the promotion and propagation of Rajbhasha Hindi (Official Language Hindi) were regularly published in the Hindi house journal “Chunauti.” His literary works reflect a deep commitment to the enrichment and wider acceptance of Hindi in both official and social spheres.

Dr. Khushwaha was also actively associated with the editing and publication of Chunauti, the Rajbhasha magazine of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for nearly ten years. His editorial contributions helped strengthen the magazine’s role in promoting Hindi among government institutions and employees.

His involvement in the Rajbhasha movement extended beyond writing and editing. For approximately twelve years, he served as Secretary in Rajbhasha Hindi-related activities and actively participated in city-level and regional conferences organized under the Rajbhasha Department of the Ministry of Defence. Through these efforts, he contributed significantly to the implementation and promotion of Hindi in official communication.

Apart from Chunauti, his articles and literary compositions have appeared in various magazines and journals, earning appreciation from readers and literary circles. His contributions have been recognized through several honors and awards. He has been honored by the Akhil Bharatiya Bal Kalyan Sansthan, Kanpur, and has received numerous awards in departmental competitions related to Rajbhasha Hindi.

After a distinguished career in public service, Dr. Khushwaha took voluntary retirement from the Ministry of Defence in December 2013. Since then, he has devoted himself to study, research and literary writing. His continued engagement with literature and language promotion demonstrates his enduring passion for knowledge and cultural development.

Today, Dr. Laxmi Shankar ‘Khushwaha’ is recognized as a respected author, former Assistant Professor, Hindi scholar, and Rajbhasha activist, whose contributions to education, literature and the promotion of Hindi continue to inspire students, readers and language enthusiasts across the country. Among his notable academic contributions is his book titled “Hindi ke Bal-Ekanki Sahitya ka Natyashastriya Anusheelan” (A Dramaturgical Study of Hindi Children's One-Act Play Literature), which continues to be regarded as a valuable reference work for research scholars and students of Hindi literature.
